DP&S becomes an independent part of Verstegen Spice Group
Tiel / Rotterdam – Dutch Protein & Services (DP&S) will remain in the Driessen family. Director/owner Chris Driessen (pictured, center) has transferred his shares to his brother Michel Driessen (pictured, right), owner of Verstegen Spice Group, which also includes Verstegen Spices & Sauces.
Verstegen produces high-quality herbs, spices, sauces, and marinades for retail, the food industry, fresh produce specialists, and food service. The family business was founded in 1886 and is currently in the hands of the fourth generation. Based in Rotterdam, Verstegen employs over 550 FTEs and strives to be the world's most sustainable herb and spice company, with products of the highest quality.
For our customers and suppliers, nothing will change in our daily collaboration: DP&S will continue to operate independently with its own market position, strategy, and organization. Current agreements, deliveries, specifications, and quality processes will remain unchanged.
New CEO: Martijn Sonneveldt
Chris Driessen took over DP&S from his father over twenty years ago and has led the company to further growth. Reuniting both family businesses creates a solid foundation for the next phase of growth.
After the transfer, DP&S and Verstegen Spices & Sauces will each retain their own identities and will continue to operate independently. To further expand DP&S's strong market position, Martijn Sonneveldt (pictured left) has been appointed as the new CEO. Martijn brings over twenty years of experience in leadership roles within the food industry and will, together with the team, further develop and grow DP&S. Chris Driessen will join the DP&S Advisory Board, ensuring that his knowledge and passion for technological innovation will remain with DP&S.
Continuity and stability
The transfer is the result of a shared long-term vision within the Driessen family, emphasizing continuity, future generations, and safeguarding shared values and standards. DP&S will continue to be guided by the principles that have defined the company for decades: quality, service, innovation, and building lasting customer relationships.
The acquisition has no further consequences for DP&S employees and partners. Verstegen Spices & Sauces and DP&S will continue to operate independently, with their own market positions, strategies, and organizations. The added value of the merger lies in combining strength and expertise, focusing on collaboration where logical and appropriate, without compromising the distinctive character of DP&S.
"I'm proud that DP&S and Verstegen are coming closer together again, while both companies will continue to operate independently. Both companies share the same values, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a strong focus on quality and long-term customer relationships. I'm convinced that by working more closely together, we can further strengthen our combined strength and serve our customers even better."
Michel Driessen ,
owner and member of the Advisory Board of Verstegen.
"I'm very grateful that, together with my brother, Dutch Protein & Services has been able to reunite with the Verstegen Spice Group as an independently operating company. It's a fantastic step that will stimulate further growth for the entire group. We both always look at least one generation ahead and see a lot of additional strength and potential emerging in the long term."
Chris Driessen ,
advisor and former owner of DP&S
I have great respect for what the DP&S team has built under Chris Driessen's leadership and consider it an honor to contribute to its further growth. DP&S's values align beautifully with my own approach: customer focus, quality, and a constant positive drive to improve and become more sustainable.
Martijn Sonneveldt ,
CEO of DP&S
