Verstegen office features world's largest ZigZagSolar solar facade
Rotterdam, November 7, 2024 – Verstegen yesterday opened the world's largest ZigZagSolar solar façade in the presence of Ms. Zeegers, Rotterdam's Alderman for Climate, Construction, and Housing. The innovative project, spanning over 1,000 m², marks a significant step in achieving its sustainability ambitions. This solar façade makes more efficient use of the available space and further paves the way to climate-neutral operations.
Efficient use of vertical space
The facade, which features no fewer than 1,100 solar panels, optimally utilizes vertical space and effectively utilizes sunlight year-round, even when the sun is low. This clever design contributes to increased energy yield, especially during periods when renewable energy is scarce. During this renovation, the exterior facade was also optimally insulated to maximize the office building's efficiency.
Energy neutral future
Verstegen's office building is already completely gas-free and electrically heated, boasting an energy label A. These sustainable solutions generate approximately 180,000 kWh of renewable energy annually. This not only positions Verstegen as a leader in the energy transition but also inspires other companies in Rotterdam and beyond.
