Croque monsieur (luxury toasted sandwich)
Delicious classic croque monsieur (luxury toasted sandwich) with a Provençal twist.
Enjoy this classic croque monsieur with a spicy Provençal twist for lunch.
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F), preferably on the grill setting. Mix the béchamel sauce with the Herbes de Provence.
Spread each slice of bread with mustard to taste. Place a slice of (farmer's) ham on one half of the slice and spread ¾ of the grated cheese over it. Place the other slice of bread on top. Spread the outside of the bread slice with the spreadable butter.
Heat a frying pan without oil and fry the croque monsieurs on both sides until golden brown.
Place the croque monsieurs in a baking dish. Pour the herby béchamel sauce over them and scatter the remaining ¼ of the grated cheese over them. Grill the croque monsieurs in a preheated oven for about 5 minutes, until the cheese is browned.

- Grove mosterd, naar smaak
