Mashed potato hutspot with sausage

Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Peel and dice the potatoes into even-sized pieces. Cut off the green tops of the carrots and set aside. Finely grate the carrots using a food processor or a grater. Add the potatoes to the boiling water and cook for 10 minutes. Then add the grated carrots and chopped onion and cook for another 10 minutes, or until tender.

Drain the stew and add 50 grams of butter, milk, and the Mix for Mashed Potatoes - Hutspot, and mash until smooth. Season with sea salt to taste. Keep warm.

Heat a pan and add the oil and sausage. Brown the sausage all over over medium heat. Reduce the heat and cover the pan. Let the sausage cook for 10 minutes.

Peel and slice the red onion into half rings. Remove the sausage from the pan, leaving the fat in the pan. Caramelize the onions for 10 minutes over low heat in the same pan as the sausage. Then add the remaining butter, the bouillon cube, and the flour and stir for 1 minute with a whisk or fork. Then add the warm water and reduce for 5 minutes.

Serve the hutspot with the bratwurst and gravy and garnish with the carrot greens and grated cheese.

  • 1 kg kruimige aardappelen
  • 1 bos bospeen met groen
  • 300 g gesneden ui
  • 100 g roomboter, ongezouten
  • 50 ml volle melk
  • 1 zakje Mix voor Stamppot - Hutspot
  • Zeezout, naar smaak
  • 2 el zonnebloemolie
  • 400 g braadworst
  • 1 rode ui
  • ½ rundvlees bouillonblokje
  • 2 el bloem
  • 150 ml warm water
  • 80 g geraspte kaas, naar keuze
