Have you ever tried bao buns? Not yet? Then it's high time to make these delicious bao buns with marinated tofu! These bao buns are wonderfully soft, the tofu is marinated in hoisin sauce and sesame seeds, and we serve it with crispy carrots and red cabbage. Finish the dish with Guilt-Free Sweet Chili Sauce for a slightly spicy burst of flavor.
Preparation
Peel the carrots and slice them with a mandolin or cheese slicer. Thinly slice the red cabbage.
Slice the tofu and marinate it with the hoisin sauce and half the sesame seeds. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
Prepare the bao buns in the steamer basket according to the instructions on the package.
Meanwhile, heat a pan with sunflower oil and fry the tofu for 8 minutes. Turn the tofu halfway through cooking and add the red cabbage.
Bring another pan with a little water to the boil and cook the bean sprouts for 1 minute.
Divide the carrot, bean sprouts, red cabbage, and tofu among the bao buns. Pluck the cilantro leaves and scatter them over the bao buns along with the remaining sesame seeds.
