Bao buns with spicy chicken. Also known as gua bao or Chinese lotus leaf buns, these steamed buns are traditionally filled with pork belly. We've given them our own twist by filling them with deliciously marinated spicy chicken. These buns truly deliver a flavor explosion!

Preparation

1

Peel and finely chop the garlic and ginger. Mix this with the Original Spice Blend - Traditional Blend for Chicken, ketjap, and fish sauce. Dice the chicken and add it to the marinade. Set aside.

2

Slice the cucumber and cut the red pepper into rings. Cut the carrot into small pieces. Combine the apple cider vinegar, ginger syrup, and sesame oil and add the carrots to the pickle. Set this aside.

3

Combine the flour, sea salt, baking powder, and milk in a bowl until smooth. Knead for 5 minutes on a floured surface. Divide the dough into two equal balls. Then roll out into an oval twice the length and once the width. Brush the boa buns all over with sesame oil and fold in half (do not press).

4

Bring a small amount of water to a boil in a large pot and place a steamer basket on top. Place half of the boa buns in the steamer basket and steam for 15 minutes. Make sure the boa buns have enough room to expand. Repeat after 15 minutes with the remaining boa buns.

5

Meanwhile, continue with the chicken. Heat the oil in a pan and brown the chicken over medium heat. Reduce the heat, add the sesame seeds, and let the chicken cook further while the marinade evaporates.

6

Make boa buns with the chicken, sweet and sour carrots, cucumber, and watercress. Garnish with the cilantro, red chili pepper, and extra World Spice Meal - Chicken Wrap to taste.
