Gingerbread nuts
With their crispy exterior and spicy interior, these homemade gingerbread nuts are the traditional treat that symbolizes Sinterklaas. As the warm aroma of gingerbread spices and fennel seeds wafts through the house, the anticipation for Sinterklaas Eve grows. Perfect to make with the kids for a wonderfully cozy Sinterklaas evening this year!
Bereidingswijze
Preheat the oven to 175 degrees.
Cut the cold butter into cubes and place this in a bowl together with the self-raising flour, the brown caster sugar, the Spice Mix for Cookies & Speculaas, the ground fennel seeds and a pinch of salt.
Knead this together and add 2 to 3 tablespoons of cold milk while kneading until you have a nice firm ball of dough.
Let the dough stiffen in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Roll small balls of about 5 grams from the dough and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Press the balls lightly with your finger and bake the spice nuts (in batches, if necessary) for about 30 minutes in the preheated oven.
