Oven-baked apples stuffed with cinnamon
The combination of apple and cinnamon: always a treat!
These baked stuffed apples are a real treat with the finest cinnamon! A delicious and easy dessert with nuts and almond paste. Perfect as a Christmas dinner dessert. Cinnamon adds a wonderfully warm flavor to this festive dish. This recipe makes 6 stuffed apples.
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish with butter.
Coarsely chop the nuts and squeeze the juice from the lime. Set both aside. Mix the almond paste with the egg yolk. Set this aside as well.
Cut the tops off the apples to about 1 cm and rub the cut side of the top with lime juice. Core the apples with an apple corer.
Scoop out the apples without damaging the skin. Use a ball-shaped scoop to create apple balls.
Cut the apple balls into large chunks. Mix the apple with the nuts, raisins, ground cinnamon, and honey.
Fill the hole in the bottom of the apple with the almond paste and egg yolk mixture. Fill the hollowed-out apples with the apple and nut mixture and sprinkle with a little ground cinnamon. Place the filled apples in the greased baking dish.
Place the apple tops on top of the filling and place the baking dish in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
Serve the stuffed apples lukewarm with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream.
