Japanese savory pancake with bacon and spring onion
Delicious for lunch or as a main course!
Okonomiyaki with bacon is a Japanese savory pancake. The name is a portmanteau of "okonomi" and "yaki," which loosely translates to "baked/grilled as you like." The pancake is easy to make with eggs and vegetables and topped with a delicious sauce. Delicious for lunch or a main course!
Preparation
Chop the cabbage very finely and slice the spring onions into rings. Whisk the eggs, broth, flour, 1 tablespoon of World Spice Meal - Omelet, sesame oil, shredded cabbage, and half of the spring onion into a thick batter.
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan and pour in ¼ of the batter. Cook the okonomiyaki until the bottom is golden brown. Place 2 slices of bacon on top of the batter and flip. Cook until the bacon is crispy and the okonomiyaki is cooked through. Remove from the pan and place on a plate. Repeat this 3 times with the remaining batter.
For the sauce, combine the Guilt-Free Tomato Ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, and Guilt-Free Sweet Chili Sauce. Use a squirt bottle to create nice stripes on the okonomiyaki. No squirt bottle? A spoon will also do the trick.
Rotate the okonomiyaki a quarter turn and make stripes with the mayonnaise. Garnish with the remaining scallions and World Spice Meal - Omelet.
Variatietip
Maak de Okonomiyaki vegetarisch door het ontbijtspek weg te laten.
